Online sex work

Everything you need to know about online sex work

There are many different ways to do online sex work, from creating and selling content to connecting with clients through various platforms. Many people combine several of these methods to build a steady income and reach a wider audience. In most cases, you do not need a permit to start working online.

How can you get started?

Are you interested in doing online sex work? There are different ways to get started.

For example, you can:

  • Share photos or videos on paid platforms such as OnlyFans, Fansly or JustForFans
  • Upload videos to tube sites such as Pornhub, where you can earn money through views
  • Go live on cam sites such as Chaturbate
  • Create and sell custom content to clients, such as personalized videos

Many sex workers combine different methods. For example, having a subscription-based platform while also selling custom content to regular clients.

What can you earn?

Income from online sex work varies from person to person and over time. Keep in mind that it often takes time to build a client base.

In the beginning, it can help to:

  • post content regularly
  • stay visible through social media

Be aware that your income may vary from month to month.

Additionally:

  • platforms usually take a percentage of your earnings
  • you are required to pay taxes on your income

Because payments are digital, they are often traceable by tax authorities (called ‘de Belastingdienst’ in the Netherlands). If you need support, you may want to consult an accountant or financial advisor about this.
